Our new unit in Grade 5 is all about art, its history, the people who created new styles and the movements that came about because of these changes. You will also have a number of opportunities to recreate some of the different art styles you inquire about and fascinate you.
As we inquire about the many different art styles, some of the links found by clicking on the image below will assist you in getting your inquiries started. There are many more sources available and you should attempt to discover some of your own through your personal research. The theme for our 2015 International Day is World Food Security. Following a presentation by Mr. Boliko from the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation on 23rd January, you will have an opportunity to conduct an inquiry of your own into this topic. As you get started, here is something to think about: "Food Security is the state in which all people at all times have access to enough safe and nutritious food to lead a healthy and productive life. Unfortunately, many people are not food secure yet. Currently 1 billion people go hungry every day. Hunger makes people weak, unwell, and makes it harder to concentrate, study, and work." You might find some of the following links below useful in your inquiry. Simply click on the link to get to the site. In our inquiry unit we are going to learn how pieces of evidence, like pieces of a puzzle, when put together help us better understand the past.
As part of our IPC unit, we are going way back in time to piece together what this fascinating period of history accomplished. We will also discover that many of the creations from some 5000 years ago can still be found in our modern world today in one form or another. Can you find some examples? Thank you, Mr. Huynh in Hong Kong for the Animoto. |
